Racing update- Last month (January) I attended the GB national cross country skiing championships in Ruhpolding,Germany. Since retiring from full time ski racing in 2010,my goal has been to return to the sport again. So for the past year I have been training extremely hard performing sport specific strength plans in the gym, running, nordic walking, swimming and lots of other exercises to prepare for this challenge!
Following one week on snow training before the races I competed in the 10km classic style event and the 7.5km mass start skate race on a world cup standard track!. I am very pleased to report 2 top half of the field results for both races. Just to compete at this level of skiing again is a great achievement and to gain these results is inspiring for me.
Over the next year I am taking part in many events such as half marathon-marathon distance runs, a long distance swim and a few rollerski races too! All the while training towards the next GB champs in 2016!
If you are inspired to take part in an event, but are unsure of how to train for it please get in touch today!
